Single Shot - John Lucas

On a Friday night in Downtown SLO, with lurkers and cops driving by, John Lucas pulls the trigger with a first try Ollie over the rail. John couldn't even see the photo until later as our camera died immediately after this shot

R.I.P. Oscar Gonzalez

Yesterday we heard about the tragic passing of Oscar Gonzalez. Even though we only knew him for a short period of time, we could tell Oscar was a great skater and person. We first met him at the Coalition contest on Go Skate Day when he received first place. We were blown away by his trick selection and he quickly became a favorite local of ours. I got the opportunity to skate with him again just a week ago and he told me he wanted to give us a video to put on the site. We were super excited to put his video up and support him.

We send our deepest condolences to Oscar's friends and family. We'll miss you.

Jazz Push Cinema - James Rivers

James Rivers is already a usual on the site. The guy deserves all the coverage he can get. We hope to post more of him in the near future.

Go Skate Day 2010

For Go Skateboarding Day, June 21st 2010, Eli Stein from Coalition skate shop organized a genuine unauthorized street contest. The original plan was to have it at 2 pm at SLO high but the Principal took notice when over 30 skaters barged straight for the 7 stairs. Not expecting to get the boot on arrival, the mob quickly relocated to trainstation.

Vito Travelini, 360 flip, first try for silver.

Isaiah, switch ollie.

Billy Perry backside 180. Sorry Bill for missing the nollie bs 180. 4th place.

Billy: go back and land this hardflip!

Bronson forward flip. This had to be the craziest trick attempted during the contest. Later on in the day, Bronson was at it again trying bs 360 kickflips over the pyramid during One Way Boardshop's "Best Trick" competition at SLO park.

Oscar Gonzalez, airwalk frontside shove-it. He landed on it but broke his tail...

then grabbed someone else's board and went on to land a straight airwalk. After a couple of other wild attempts Oscar went from what looked like a bailed kf to a double flip second try that earned him the gold. Sorry Oscar, we didn't get a photo of the double kf catch but be sure to check out the land in the montage at the bottom.

Cory Jones, frontside bigspin for bronze.

James Rivers, fs flip. James didn't enter the contest but skated anyhow. By the end he was already gone when the judges tried to give him the bronze. Later on he said he'd rather the younger guys get hooked up anyhow.

Session Killer.

Oscar taking the gold.

Thanks to Eli, Coalition, and all of the skaters who came down for the event. Lets do it again next year!
